UNINET INTERNET SERVICES ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY
Acceptable Use Policy Revision 2 16/07/98
1 Disk storage space on UniNet Web servers is provided for personal or business use
only and must be used in conjunction with a personal or business web site.
2 You are not allowed to assign, re-sell, sub-lease or in any other way transfer use of
the UniNet web space services to any other person.
3 You will keep all passwords secret and will not disclose them to third parties for any
purpose. You will notify UniNet immediately if you believe that your password may have
been compromised.
4 The first page of your Web site must be called index.htm.
5 You will be responsible for the content of your Web site, including obtaining any
applicable legal permission for any works they include and ensuring that the contents of
these pages do not violate UK or international laws.
6 You must not knowingly use the UniNet Web space service to receive or transmit material
that is obscene, threatening, menacing, confidential, offensive, secret, defamatory, in
breach of confidence or in breach of copyright or any other third party intellectual
property rights or is otherwise contrary to any applicable law or regulation. Failure to
comply will result in immediate removal of your Web space.
7 You must ensure that your index.htm file (the first to be viewed on a site) does not
contain any material liable to offend and contains a suitable warning identifying the
nature of the site's content.
8 If you do not keep the default file (index.htm) in the root directory of your UniNet Web
space for a period of 8 weeks, your username may be withdrawn and your UniNet Web
space site may be deleted.
9 No user defined CGIs are permitted unless otherwise agreed with UniNet.
10 No support will be given for HTML authoring or page design unless otherwise agreed with
UniNet.
11 No logs or any detail of who visited your site will be made available unless otherwise
agreed with UniNet.
12 You will be responsible for retaining copies of your own data. UniNet will not keep
backups of your pages.
13 UniNet will not be responsible for loss of data, information in any form or other
matters whatsoever which result from the use of this service.
14 You will not be eligible for any compensation because you cannot use the service or as
a result of the suspension, removal or unavailability of your UniNet Web
space site or material stored within it.
15 UniNet will use all reasonable endeavours to provide a reliable, high performance
service at all times. However, the Service is not fault free and the Customer shall be
entitled only to the quality of service provided by UniNet.
16 If your account is barred for any reason (e.g. non-payment) access to your UniNet Web
space will be suspended.
17 If you close your account, your UniNet Web space site will be deleted.
18 UniNet reserve the right to remove any material from the UniNet Web space service at
their sole discretion, without prior notice and without explanation.
19 UniNet reserve the right to suspend any or all of the UniNet Web space service at any
time, without prior notice and without explanation.
20 UniNet Web space sites are limited to 600Mb of traffic use in any month, or
approximately 20Mb per day. Sites exceeding an average daily figure of 20Mb over 3
consecutive days will be automatically suspended for a minimum of 24 hours.
21 UniNet reserve the right to request that sites which show repetitive excessive use be
modified immediately or be moved to a different server.
22 UniNet reserve the right to suspend or delete any site that fails to comply with this
Acceptable Use Policy.
23 UniNet reserve the right to make a charge for any assessment of suspended sites.
24 Use of UniNet Web space is governed by UniNet's Terms and Conditions of Use which are
available on UniNet's Web site. By uploading to the UniNet Web space host, you will be
deemed to have agreed to and accepted the Terms and Conditions of Use.
25 You must not refer to your pages by any means other than the address provided by
UniNet. Specifically, you must not reference or cause your UniNet Web space to be
referenced by dotted IP addresses (e.g. 192.145.7.14). Requests made to your UniNet Web
space using dotted IP addresses or alternative names may not work.
26 UniNet reserve the right to vary the Terms and Conditions of Use and Acceptable Use
Policy for the UniNet Web space service including the definition of 'excessive use' at
their sole discretion at any time and without prior notice.
27 Any decision made by UniNet in relation to this UniNet Web space service shall be
final. |
